Sherry Cask #15
75cl x 40.6% Volume
Campbeltown single malt.
Distilled 16 July 1969 - Bottled 29 July 2014
Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2016 review – 90.5 POINTS
Nose: massive oak – enough to kill most other malts from 100 paces. But lurking is an intense salty barley concentrate: not a nose for the lily-livered.
Taste: again, the oak is first to show and in force. But the barley remains firm, even inveigling some softer sugars into the fray, some of them vaguely honeyed.
Finish: a little mocha and malt shake; the oak has retreated, defeated, allowing the softer tones to stretch;
Balance: Springbank is one of the few distilleries on this planet to absorb this degree of tannin and still present something that delights.
